Definitions:

Needs
It is something that is necessary for survival, health, safety and basic functioning in society. Failure to meet a need can lead to negative consequences (e.g. hunger, illness, homelessness). Examples of needs include food, water, shelter, basic health care, clothing, transport to work/school.

Wants
This is something that is not essential but that we want to have in order to improve our comfort, pleasure, status or to satisfy our desires. Failure to satisfy a craving does not threaten our survival or basic functioning. Examples of wants include expensive gadgets, exotic holidays, luxury cars, eating at expensive restaurants, the latest model phones
