Simple and effective ways to save money

1

“Pay yourself first”

The rule of thumb is simple: before you pay for groceries, bills and other expenses, transfer some money to your savings account first. The easiest way to do this is to set up a standing order with your bank for an automatic transfer, such as a day or two after you receive your salary.

2

Rounding up tips

Many banks offer a service that automatically rounds up each card transaction to the full amount and transfers the difference to your savings account. You pay 68.60 PLN? 1.40 PLN goes into savings. This is a painless and very effective way to do it.

3

Putting away change

Put the 2 PLN or 5 PLN coins you receive in the piggy bank as change. You can also collect all the change from your pocket before doing the laundry. You’ll be surprised how much money you’ll accumulate after a few months.

4

Conscious consumerism

Learn to recognise marketing tricks. A “buy two, pay for one” promotion is not always a bargain if you really only need one product

5

Eliminate temptations

Do you make unnecessary purchases when you are bored or sad? Or have you simply fallen into the trap of online shopping? Try to avoid places and situations that provoke you to spend.
