Cashless payments in Poland<\/strong><\/strong><\/h1>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Cash is rarely used in Poland. Instead, one pays by card, phone or BLIK. <\/p>\n\n

  • Bank card:<\/strong> This is a plastic card with a number, expiration date and a three-digit CVV\/CVC code on the back. You need to enter a PIN to pay at the store. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • BLIK:<\/strong> This is a unique six-digit code that you generate in the bank’s app on your phone. The code is only valid for 2 minutes. You can use it to pay in stores (online and stationary), as well as withdraw money from an ATM without using a card. You can also use BLIK to transfer money to another person’s phone number – as long as they have an account with a Polish bank and BLIK is enabled. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Mobile payments: <\/strong>If you have a phone with an NFC module, you can pay by contactless, just like with a card. Just add your card to an app such as Google Pay or Apple Pay. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

    How to use these payment methods safely?<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    • Don’t write down your card PIN on a piece of paper. Always remember it by heart. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • When paying with your card in a store, cover the keypad with your hand when you enter your PIN.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Do not share your card number and CVV\/CVC code with anyone. These details are needed for online payments. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Use BLIK when you shop online at trusted stores. Remember that the BLIK code is a one-time use and only valid for 2 minutes. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Never give your BLIK code to anyone over the phone, text message, or on social media. Scammers often call and ask for the code, for example, under the pretext of helping you pick up a package. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
